Lorenzo A. Martinez Sr. was born August 22, 1923 in Mesilla, NM. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 21st, 2008. He was born to Simon and Manuela Martinez, he was the oldest of 10 children. Mr. Martinez was a retired Navy Veteran who served his country during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He also retired from the Las Cruces Public Schools. He was a member of the VFW Post 6917. His greatest passion was his love for the Lord; he was an ordained minister and traveled to Mexico as a Missionary for many years. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Serafina Martinez, his daughters; Dolores Seideman and husband Robert of Las Vegas, NV, Rosela Montoya and husband Joe of Albuquerque, NM, Anita Morales and husband Gilbert of Las Cruces, NM. Sons; Lorenzo Martinez Jr of Las Cruces, NM and Raymond Martinez and wife Perla of Las Cruces, NM. His is also survived by his siblings, Simona Melon, Francisco A. Martinez, Juan Martinez, Simon A. Martinez, Manuel A. Martinez, Marylou Houston and Joe Martinez. Other survivors include his 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Lorenzo Martinez Sr. was proceeded in death by his parents Simon and Manuela Martinez, his sisters Felicia Telles and Cecilia Martinez, infant son Lorenzo Martinez, his grandsons; Abaristo Brito Jr., John Raymond McCreary Morales and his great -grandson Christopher Adlesperger. A visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home where the prayer service will follow at 7:00pm. Family and friends will join together to celebrate the funeral service on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:00am at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel.
