Lorenzo Aban Chavez (Lencho) age 31 was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday September 16, 2023. He was born November 21, 1991, in Las Cruces, New Mexico where he lived his entire life. He is survived by his parents Celso and Isela Chavez, his brother and sister-in-law Antonio and Jordan Chavez, and nephew Ricky, his paternal grandmother Ana Flores, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Lorenzo was preceded by his maternal grandparents Reyes Robles in December 1988, Isabel Robles in July 2004. His paternal grandfather Jesus Flores in February 2007. His brother Celso "Ricky" Chavez in February 2008. Lorenzo was born and raised in las Cruces, New Mexico, where he went to Mayfield High School graduating in 2010. He was a proud member of the Trojan Marching Band for all four years of his high school years. After graduating high school, Lorenzo worked at various retail stores and was last at Walgreens. Unfortunately, his illness deterred him continuing to work. Lorenzo had a passion for Anime, video, and board games, and TTRPG. His room was full of posters and figurines of his favorite characters from the numerous shows and games he played. He had a quiet spirit, quick wit, and was very kind and compassionate. His favorite thing to do was tell what everyone refers to as "Dad Jokes". He would tell a string of them and just start laughing harder and harder as he kept going. He had a great smile and an infectious laugh. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Visitation will begin at 9am with a celebration of life at 10am. Ruben Valenzuela of La Mesa Community Church will officiate. A reception will follow at the family home, 2910 Dona Ana Road, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
