Lorraine Joan Gulino (nee Szymaszek), July 14, 1930 - November 18, 2022. Lorraine was a warm and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Buffalo, New York, graduating from Conesus College in 1952 with a degree in nursing, the first member of her family to attend college. She worked at several Buffalo-area hospitals; at one of them, she met her future husband, Lorie (Loretto) Gulino, who was in medical school at the time. They married in 1955, and, in 1957, upon the birth of their first child, moved to Rochester, New York. Lorraine became a full-time mother and homemaker while helping her husband build a successful medical practice. She took up several hobbies and activities with her husband over the years, including skiing, tennis, and golf, and she became an avid bridge player. She and her family made their home in the Rochester area through retirement until finally relocating to southern New Mexico in 2012 for the warmer climate and to stay near family.

Lorraine was deeply devoted to her family. She was active in her Catholic faith throughout her life, doing volunteer work at her parish. Her family growing up included an uncle who was a priest as were several close family friends. She was a believer in higher education as the doorway to opportunity. Her four children all earned graduate degrees. She loved car travel with her family, making multiple trips to California, Colorado, Texas, and Florida over the years. She loved puzzles and was a fan of Wheel of Fortune as well as Masterpiece Theatre.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Loretto (2022), her father John A. Szymaszek (1972) and her mother Victoria Nowaczyk Szymaszek (1992). She is survived by her sister Theresa Szymaszek, four children, Daniel (Mary Ann), Paul (Julye Bidmead), Barbara Van Arsdale, and Richard, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
