Luis Y. Jimenez, 88, of La Mesa entered eternal life, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Mesa Hills Specialty Hospital of El Paso. He was born June 21, 1926, in La Mesa, New Mexico, to Julio Jimenez and Maria Ybarra Jimenez. Luis served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. Luis Y. Jimenez, 88, of La Mesa entered eternal life, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Mesa Hills Specialty Hospital of El Paso. He was born June 21, 1926, in La Mesa, New Mexico, to Julio Jimenez and Maria Ybarra Jimenez. Luis served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from White Sands Missile Range in 1983, after 34 years. Luis loved baseball, coaching the La Mesa Blue Jays and the Old timer's, for many years. He love to play pool, fish, and just be out and about. He is survived by his sister, Socorro Martinez and husband Lalo, Planada, CA.; brother, Sotero Jimenez and wife Julia of Edge Water, CA.; daughters, Alice Martinez and husband Martin, Sylvia Dipace, Sophia Romero and husband Miguel, Lupe Valenzuela and Husband Herman; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife Maggie of 50 years and son, Luis Jimenez Jr. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a prayer service to follow at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at La Mesa Cemetery. Pallbearers are Miguel Romero Jr., Charlie Romero, Justin Martinez, Sammy Dipace, Ismael Molina Jr.and Gabriel Romero.
