Lupe G. Stammer

Lupe G. Stammer joined her beloved George on Nov. 4, 2012. Lupe was born Dec. 12, 1931 in Las Cruces, NM, to Anastacio and Catalina (Portillo) Gonzales. She joined George in retirement from White Sands Missile Range in 1983 and started a second career working for Merritt group Sonic Drive-ins. Lupe was well known for her slot machine mania and her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 56 years, George; her parents; two sisters, Mary Rodriguez and Josie (Fina) Sulewski; two brothers Tony and Anastacio (Jr.) Gonzales and her step-granddaughter, Jessica Wood Atencio. She is survived by her daughters: Susan Wood (Ernie), Barbara Stammer, and Patricia Talamantes (Raymond); her grandsons Brian Stammer (Theresa) and Cory Balke (Erica); great-grandchildren Elijah and Olivia Stammer, Mia Balke, and Sabrina Zulaica. Surviving siblings are: Linda Lopez (Benny), Angie Medina, Benjamin Gonzales (Lupe), Alice Lopez (Robert), Shelly Mendoza (Anselmo), and Robert Gonzales (Helen). She is also survived by her best friend Joanie Tyler of Organ, NM; her sister-in-law Lois Sanford (Robert) and her brother-in-law Bruce Stammer (Darlene). She will be missed by numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her extended family from the Sonic Drive-ins. A celebration of her life will be at 10 am on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at Getz Funeral Home.
