On October 24, 2009 Lydia T. Kiehne passed away at her home as lovingly and as peacefully as she lived. Her last days were spent with her devoted husband of 60 years, Earl Guy Kiehne, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and very special family friends Mel and Jane Fleming. Lydia is survived by her husband, Earl Guy Kiehne, her son Craig Kiehne and his family, Pamela Pena, Craig Kiehne Jr, Jo Belle Kiehne, Kyle Kiehne, Jane Hernandez, and Coby Cherry (all of Las Cruces, New Mexico), her son and daughter-in-law Terry and Jo Beth Kiehne (Los Alamos, NM) and their children, Shawnell Kiehne (Orlando, Florida), Charlie Kiehne (Trinidad, Colorado) and James Kiehne (Las Cruces, New Mexico), 3 brothers, George Thacker (Silver City, New Mexico), Jerry Thacker (Glenwood, New Mexico), and Charlie Thacker (Cliff, New Mexico), 2 sisters, Alice Estrada (Reserve, New Mexico), and Bonnie Milligan (Reserve, New Mexico), sister-in-law Lena Shelhorn (Glenwood, New Mexico), many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, and very special family friends. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Isabel Thacker (Glenwood, New Mexico), brother Billy Thacker (Glenwood, New Mexico), sisters Lupe George (Glenwood, New Mexico), and Antonia McKeen (Glenwood, New Mexico). Lydia grew up on a farm in Glenwood, NM where she worked along side her brothers and sisters attending to the farm chores. She graduated from Reserve Union High School. It was there that she met the love of her life Earl Kiehne, shortly there after, she married Earl and moved to Datil, New Mexico. After a short stay in Datil they moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico, where Lydia and Earl both worked and made many friends. Eventually they settled in Las Cruces New Mexico where they started a family and Lydia would spend the rest of her life. Lydia was an exceptional mother who loved to cook for her family. There was always plenty to eat in Lydia's house. She was an avid bowler, she competed in many tournaments at the city, state and national levels, she liked gardening and more than anything else she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
