Mabel Lee Peckumn, 92 died Wednesday July 13, 2005 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Mabel was born on August 7, 1912 in the Red River Valley in Texas to G.V. and Phoebe Este Minnick. Mrs. Peckumn was a New Mexico resident for 88 years, over 30 years in Albuquerque and a Las Cruces resident for about the last 23 years. She was one of three children, brother, Fred and sister, Mildred preceded her in death. Mabel came to New Mexico as a child with her family to homestead in the Estancia Valley. She met and married her husband Jim W. Peckumn in Santa Fe, NM. They were married on November 28, 1929 in the Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe. Jim, her husband of 53 years, preceded her in death in 1981 in Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Peckumn is survived by her three children, Joe W. Peckumn and his wife Linda of Las Cruces, NM. Daughters, Janey M. Swope and her husband Dennis of Las Cruces, NM and Sharon L. Hatch and her husband Brent of Show low, AZ. Her six grandchildren Tammera Dorwart, Jim Peckumn, Tadd Hatch, Michelle Moore, Judy Peckumn, and Tim Swope, and six great grandchildren also survive her. At Mabel's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Fred Harris. Interment of her ashes will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 18, 2005 at Fairview Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM.
