Mary K. McKinney White, 73 of Las Cruces, NM passed away on July 21, 2005 after fighting a long and courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a disease affecting the stem cells. Mary K. McKinney White, 73 of Las Cruces, NM passed away on July 21, 2005 after fighting a long and courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a disease affecting the stem cells. Mary was known for her smile, her patience and her generosity. A native of Las Cruces, Mary was born at home on April 20, 1932 to George Leon and Neva Louise Perkins McKinney. On January 7, 1949, she married Howard Kendrick White; their union lasted for 56 years when he preceded her in death on December 25, 2004. Mary, Howard and their family traveled the world and during her travels, Mary volunteered with the American Red Cross, established and maintained numerous bridge clubs, was an active member of the Veteran Motor Car Clubs of America, and was an avid bowler. Upon retiring to Sierra Vista, AZ, she was president of the Senior Bowling League of Sierra Vista and was a member of the Board of Directors of Sierra Huachuca Women's Bowling Association. Mary is survived by daughter Sharon, sons Ken and wife Tricia, Greg and wife Mary, granddaughters Anna, Diane and Tressa Basler-White and her only great granddaughter Syncere Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Franklin and Daniel McKinney. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Sunday, July 24, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM Monday, July 25, 2005 at the mausoleum located at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Donna Stryker and Linda Mervine officiating. Burial and reception will follow.
