Manuel Olivas passed away on Monday May 2, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Manny, as he is known to his loved ones, is survived by his wife, Helen Olivas, who stayed by his side and was his primary care giver during his hardest moments of battling Parkinson's Disease. He is also survived by his children, Manuel wife Pam, Virginia husband Richard, Leo wife Sandra, Mark fiance Destiny, stepson Frankie fiance Constance, his brother Lolo and his sisters Lupe husband Lazaro, Eva husband Santos, Mary husband Desi, and Martha; as well as 14 grandchildren, 5 and 1/2 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Pedro Olivas, his sister Carmen Appelzoller, his mother Otilia Olivas and his nephews Michael Evaro and Tommy Evaro. Manny was born in Las Cruces, NM, on February 08, 1949, to Leopoldo Olivas and Otilia Olivas. He was the oldest of 8 siblings. Manny spent 18 years working in the National Guard as a machinist, a trade that he cherished and utilized as much as he could throughout his life. Although he battled with Parkinson, Manny was full of life and never let it stop him from being active and on the go. Manny loved spending time with his family, celebrating milestones and holidays. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm and a memorial service celebrating Manuel's life will begin at 2:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home, First Visitation
