Manuel Quintana, 68, of Las Cruces, died Sunday May 7, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on January 14, 1943 to Andrea Garcia and Santiago Quintana in Newkirk, NM. Manuel moved to Las Cruces from Clovis NM in 1972 where he worked for several years as a parts man in the auto industry mainly in Ford dealerships. The loves in his life were God, family, playing the guitar and working in his backyard. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served God and his community. He served the church working on the pews, playing the guitar during mass, serving in the kitchen during Cursillo, working on the altar at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church and praying for the sick and those who were suffering. His absence will be noticed by many. He is survived by his wife of 10 years Maria Dolores Quintana, one daughter Sonja Quintana (Farrell Hendry), one son Manuel Paul Quintana (Mari), five grandchildren, Steven Fernandez Jr. (Yvette Talamante), Nicholas S. Fernandez, Manuel Paul Quintana Jr. , Kimberly L. Quintana, and Daniel R. Quintana. One great grandson Santiago A. Fernandez. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Elba Quintana. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6 - 7pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, with a prayer vigil to follow at 7pm. The funeral mass will be on Thursday May 12, 2011 at 10am also at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Cremation will follow the mass. PDF Printable Version
