Manuel U. 'Mannie' Sarabia

October 29, 1923 — February 19, 2013

Manuel "Mannie" U. Sarabia, a family man, working man and local golfing legend passed away at 8:04 am February 19, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Mannie as he was called by family and friends was born on October 29, 1923 to Jose M. Sarabia and Maria Sarabia. Mannie served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1945. He was known for working for Ikard and Newsome in which he worked for thirty five years. Mannie was the City Ace Champion for Golf in 1971 and golfer of the year in 1975 and even played with multi major champion Lee Trevino. Mannie is survived by his wife of sixty two years Mary Sarabia, his three sons Gilbert, Samuel "Sammie" and Armando Sarabia. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Victor, Joe, Calixto, Fidel, Jimmy, Josephine, Edwardo, and Chela. A memorial services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, at Our lady of Health Catholic Church 1178 N. Mesquite, Inurnment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. PDF Printable Version
