Manuel V. Montoya, 92 of Tortugas, NM went home to his lord on Friday, June 13, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family. Manuel was born December 10, 1915 in Tortugas to Juan and Josefa Montoya. Manuel served in the US Army and had worked at the Copper Mines in Morenci, Arizona. He and his family moved back to Tortugas and retired from White Sands Missile Range as a security guard. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Manuel is survived by his wife of 62 years, Minnie of the family home; one son Eddie Montoya and wife Mary Frances of Tortugas, NM; five daughters, Maria Padilla and husband Carlos of Espanola, NM; Crucita Montoya of Las Cruces, NM; Mary Perez and husband Bobby of Las Cruces, NM; Norine Ceballos and husband Ignacio of Las Cruces, NM; and Annie House and husband Harper of Raleigh, North Carolina. Also surviving Manuel are 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren (with one on the way); three great great grandchildren and one brother Juan Montoya of Tortugas. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, and three grandchildren; Lorraine Montoya, Michelle Montoya, and Eddie Montoya Jr. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish, 3600 Parroquia Street in Tortugas with the Prayer Vigil following at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at the same church at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 with the Rite of Committal and burial to follow at the Tortugas Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Don Adamski. Pallbearers will be Lou, Ray, Mikey, Gabe Montoya, Abe Ceballos, Ace, Aaron and Devin Perez. The family requests in lieu of flowers to make donations to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88005, in memory of Manuel V. Montoya. PDF Printable Version
