Marcelina R. "Marcy" Costales, 87, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008. She was born July 17, 1921 in Rincon, NM to Martin and Margarita Rivas. Marcy was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed fishing, dancing, sewing and arts and crafts, but her passion was for her beautiful family. Marcelina R. "Marcy" Costales, 87, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008. She was born July 17, 1921 in Rincon, NM to Martin and Margarita Rivas. Marcy was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed fishing, dancing, sewing and arts and crafts, but her passion was for her beautiful family. She will be deeply missed by all her family and many friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters Tommie Ortega and husband Fred of Santa Fe, NM, Mary Helen Costales, Cecilia Pompa and husband Frank and Minerva Zaldo and husband Bruno all of Las Cruces; brother Chano Rivas of California and sister Lela Arrey of Arrey, NM. Also surviving Marcy are 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Costales and by her two sons Art and Steve Costales. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Sean Garrity officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of Marcy's family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E.
