Marcelino G. Gonzales, 83, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, Jan.1, 2013 surrounded by his family at home. He was born April 27, 1929 in Mesilla, NM to Carlos and Narcisa Gonzales. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served our country honorably. Marcelino enjoyed the outdoors, farming and growing chile, cooking and making tortillas and going to yard sales with his best friend Alejandro Baca but his passion was for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Marcelino is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Erlinda Gonzales of the family home; his children Esther Sedillos and husband Ray of Dona Ana, NM, Louisa Lujan and husband Eddie, Linda Grace Gonzales and Sally Cadena all of Las Cruces; brothers Carlos Gonzales and wife Carmen and Danny Gonzales and companion Lucy Flores all of Las Cruces and sister Natalia Lopez and husband Eduardo of Mesilla, NM; grandchildren Yvonne, Shirley, Lisa, Linda, Gabriel, Laura, Jose, Marcelino, Ramon, Raymundo and Leticia and by 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special challenged great-granddaughter Davina. He is preceded in death by his brothers Gregorio, Guillermo, Cipriano and Luis Gonzales. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at Getz Funeral Home where a rosary will follow at 7 pm. Marcelino's funeral mass to celebrate his life is at 10 am on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at the Basilica of San albino with Fr. Richard Catanach officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Marcelino and Jose Sedillos, Gabriel Lujan, Ismael Felix, Ramon and Raymundo Cadena. Honorary pallbearers are Enrique and Isaac Silva, Jesus Villegas, Isaiah Aparicio and Marisa Sedillos. PDF Printable Version
