Marco A. Martinez

Marco A. Martinez, 47, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, March 8, 2007. He was born Nov. 12, 1959 in Allende, Mexico to Jose Inez Martinez and Hortencia Valdez Martinez. Marco was retired from the US Army where he served his country honorably as a Staff Sergeant. He was also a Sgt. at Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility where all his fellow officers as well as inmates respected him. Marco had a love for boxing, martial arts, his guitar but his passion in life was for his family. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Blanca E. Martinez of the family home; children Marco A. Martinez Jr. of Laguna Niguel, CA, Samantha L. Martinez, Violette M. Martinez and Noelle A. Martinez all of Las Cruces; parents Jose and Hortencia Martinez; brother Nicho Martinez and wife Ardeanna; sisters Anita Martinez, Elodia Molina and husband Ricky, Martha Rodriguez and husband Luis and Elsa Nambo; aunt Ofelia Valdez and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. Marco's funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Sean Garrity officiating. Rite of Committal will be at 2:00 PM also on Tuesday at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be his fellow officers of the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility. PDF Printable Version
