Margaret S. Allen

May 17, 1935 — March 28, 2011

On March 28th, our mother and friend, Margaret Sue Allen had her ticket punched as she boarded the train and departed to heaven. Sue, as she was fondly called by family, battled health issues for some time. Sue passed on from La Posada Hospice center, surrounded by her family, tears and laughter. She was greatly loved and passed peacefully. Margaret Sue was born to Ada Brumbach Nichols and Wiley Nichols in Matador TX on the seventeenth day of May in 1935. Sue is survived by Walter Allen, her two sons, Bruce David Allen and wife Aurea Allen Richard Dean Allen, Daughter in law, Kathy Allen, and her only daughter Joy Suzette Goodwin and husband Matthew Goodwin. Sue Allen has five Grandchildren being Donnamarie Perez-DeGenova, Justin Dean Allen, Daniel Ryan Allen, Britton Allen Goodwin and Ada Sheilayna Goodwin. Sue is also survived by her sister Wylene Saunders and husband Jack Saunders, and many nieces and nephews. . Preceded by her parents, her sister Patsy Spradling, brother Bob Nichols. Sue Allen began residing in Las Cruces in 1958. She worked many years with the Census Bureau. Sue then began work at White Sands Missile Range, Atmospheric Dept until retirement. Sue was very involved with the Masonic Lodge. Sue graduated from New Mexico State University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree and recognition as a Crimson Scholar. Sue lived a very full life. She spent three weeks in China, probably one of most coveted achievements. Sue was also involved with the Republican Party of Las Cruces. Sue loved the outdoors, roses, country music and dancing. Much of her life was full throttle, no time wasted. Sue was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She gave of herself with passion and intensity. We will miss her greatly. Her family would like to recognize those who were instrumental in making her last few days as comfortable as possible. Special thanks to Mountain View Medical Center.
