Maria Bustamante Paz, 84 of Tortugas entered eternal life on Saturday, September 13, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born August 13, 1924 in San Miguel, NM to Valentin and Mercedes Bustamante. Maria Bustamante Paz, 84 of Tortugas entered eternal life on Saturday, September 13, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born August 13, 1924 in San Miguel, NM to Valentin and Mercedes Bustamante. A lifelong resident of the area she was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Hills Church of the Cross. Maria is survived by her husband of 60 years, Augustin; two sons, Augustin Paz Jr. and wife Linda S.; Fred B. Paz and his wife Hilda and one daughter, Maria Bertha Paz all of Tortugas, NM. She has three bothers, Alfonso Bustamante and wife Lilly; Jose Bustamante and wife Mona; and Daniel Bustamante and wife Mary all of Las Cruces, NM and one sister, Estefana Madrid of Anthony, NM. Also surviving Maria are 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Samuel Paz and two grandchildren, Tolani Paz and Clinton Joseph Paz. A visitation will be from 6 to 7 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer service will follow at 7 PM. Funeral Services will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Cedar Hills Church of the Cross, 5550 Stern Dr. Las Cruces, NM, with Pastor Tomas Perez, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Isaiah Paz, David Paz, Stephen Nava, Saul Prieto, Antonio Paz and Alfonso Bustamante Jr. Honorary bearers will be Hector, Alfonso Sr., Bobby, Lonnie, Jose and Daniel Bustamante.
