Maria C. Buenning, 76, of Las Cruces, died Monday, March 17, 2008. She was born Jan. 26, 1932 in Albuquerque, NM to Rafael and Luisa Chavez. She enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and tending to her rose garden, she also loved to bowl, play bingo, crocheting and playing the slot machines, but her passion was for her family. Maria C. Buenning, 76, of Las Cruces, died Monday, March 17, 2008. She was born Jan. 26, 1932 in Albuquerque, NM to Rafael and Luisa Chavez. She enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and tending to her rose garden, she also loved to bowl, play bingo, crocheting and playing the slot machines, but her passion was for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Maria is survived by her sons Alejandro Lucero and wife Eleanor of Las Cruces, David Buenning and wife Rosy of El Paso, TX and Gary Buenning and wife Selina of Las Cruces and daughter Debbie Richardson and husband Randy of Las Cruces; brothers Tony Chavez and wife Elfie of TorC, NM and Bobby Chavez of Las Cruces; sister Mary Sedillo and husband Jimmie Vallejos of Socorro, NM. Also surviving her are 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband David Buenning and a brother Louie Chavez. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 2 PM on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home. Maria's entire family would like to give a special thanks to Mesilla Valley Hospice and Well Care for the love and care shown to their mother.
