Maria Elena Green passed peacefully onto eternal life on October 18, 2023, to forever be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in His glorious Heavenly Kingdom. Maria Elena, the fourth of six children, was born on August 22, 1933, in Las Cruces NM to the late Pablo M. Amézquita and Mercedes Ch. Amézquita.

Maria Elena Green passed peacefully onto eternal life on October 18, 2023, to forever be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in His glorious Heavenly Kingdom. Maria Elena, the fourth of six children, was born on August 22, 1933, in Las Cruces NM to the late Pablo M. Amézquita and Mercedes Ch. Amézquita.
Maria Elena graduated from Union High School, Las Cruces NM, in 1952. During her working career Maria Elena held various administrative positions at the First National Bank, Merchants Bank, and the Physical Science Laboratory at New Mexico State University from where she retired. She was very active in her younger years and was an accomplished skater who won numerous awards and trophies. She also loved to ski, play table tennis, and enjoyed dancing to country music. She was also a very talented oil painter. Maria Elena was a very giving and gracious person who brightened the lives of all those who knew her.
Maria Elena was a loving and caring daughter, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her three sons Robert D. Green, Douglas S. Green, and Eric R. Green; her parents Pablo M. Amézquita and Mercedes Ch. Amézquita, and her loving Stepfather Nicanor J. Benavidez; four of her five siblings: Alfredo C. Amézquita, Gilbert C. Amézquita, Carlos C. Amézquita, and Alicia A. Rios; and her nephew Juan A. Rios and her niece Vilma A. Welcker.

Green; her youngest brother Reynaldo C. Amézquita; her sisters-in-law Aurora D. Amézquita and Martha E. Amézquita, brother Mark (Tina) Amezquita; as well as her nephews: Paul A. Perez (Sylvia Lechuga Perez), Luis A. Rios (Irma Ibanez Rios) , Arturo A. Rios ( Wendy), Charlie D. Amézquita, Eric P. Amézquita, Gilbert M. Amézquita, and Mark A. Amézquita; and her nieces Margaret R. Pena (Ernest Pena) and Cindy A. Martinez. Finally, she is also survived by her life-long dear friends Nancy Clifton and Jamie Sells.
Warm felt gratitude and appreciation are extended to the staff at Casa Del Sol Nursing Home and especially to Erica and Gloria with Mesilla Valley Hospice, and Marcia at Getz Funeral Home. Pastor Joel Holguin will preside over the funeral service which will be held at the Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road, Las Cruces NM, on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, at 2:00 pm.
