Maria L. Juarez entered her eternal rest on February 13, 2018 and joined her loving husband of 49 years in Heaven for Valentine's Day. Maria L. Juarez entered her eternal rest on February 13, 2018 and joined her loving husband of 49 years in Heaven for Valentine's Day. Maria was born July 9, 1933 in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico to Gregorio and Consuelo Cardenas. She was the fourth of six children. Maria married Santos Juarez of McPherson, Kansas on August 25, 1956 and made McPherson her home until Santos retired from Alliance Insurance in 1986. After Santos retired, he and Maria moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico to join their children, Anna and Jon. While in McPherson, Maria held various hospitality jobs including at the Warren Hotel and McPherson Bank and Trust. She and her husband also were custodians at the law firm of Sizemore and Shriver as well as the McPherson Municipal Center. Throughout her career and retirement, she was well known for her infectious smile and loving personality. Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Santos, as well as two brothers: Gregorio Cardenas of Waukegan, Illinois and Gilberto Cardenas of Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico. She is survived by her children, Jon and Anna Juarez of Las Cruces, as well as three sisters, Raquel Gonzales, Consuelo De La Garza and Maria del Refugio (Cuquina) Montelongo, as well as many nephews, nieces and their children. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, February 23, 2018 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church.
