Our dearly beloved Mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wonderful sister was called by our Lord on April 14, 2009. Cuca as she was known to all was born on July 16, 1920 to Isabel Benavidez Perea and Feliz Perea in La Mesa, NM. She left this world to join our Lord and her beloved parents Isabel and Feliz along with her sister Genoveva Lopez, brothers Ramon Perea, Emilio Perea, Lorenzo Perea and Eduardo Perea. She is survived by her daughters Catalina "Katie" C. Valenzuela and partner Michael Vigil and Isabel "Betty" C. Vigil and husband Robert McGonigle, sister Isabel Tellez and husband Roberto, grandchildren Marty Valenzuela and wife Maria, Aaron Valenzuela, Carla Beck and husband David, Monica Vigil, Malinda Vigil-Rodriguez and husband Carlos, Dianna Vigil, great grandchildren Brandon Valenzuela, Avery Valenzuela, Hannah Beck, and soon to arrive Aidyn Rodriguez and God daughter Aurelia Yniguez. Cuca was raised in La Mesa, New Mexico and remained a resident of the community for her entire life. She was a devoted member of the San Jose Church in La Mesa and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. For many years Cuca was in the church choir and taught catechism. Her greatest joys were her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking and being of service to others. She loved with her whole heart, shared her joy and had a quiet gentle acceptance of the trials encountered in her life. We thank our Lord for blessing us with such an amazing Mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother.
