Maria Rel, 102, of Las Cruces, NM has gone to heaven, Wednesday December 26, 2007. She was born in Rodey, NM on September 9, 1905 to Candido and Guadalupe Benavidez. Maria met and married her loving husband and they lived in Rodey, NM Hatch, NM Colorado, and California before settling down in Las Cruces, NM. She had 13 children of which eleven now survive her. Maria Rel, 102, of Las Cruces, NM has gone to heaven, Wednesday December 26, 2007. She was born in Rodey, NM on September 9, 1905 to Candido and Guadalupe Benavidez. Maria met and married her loving husband and they lived in Rodey, NM Hatch, NM Colorado, and California before settling down in Las Cruces, NM. She had 13 children of which eleven now survive her. She lived a long life and had many great stories and memories she shared and treasured. She blessed all of our lives and and will always be remembered for her loving, giving and warm heart. Maria loved to joke and make everyone laugh. She always made quilts and crochet for her family as well as making the best empanadas. Maria always prayed her Novena's for all and her love for the Lord was over whelming. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lupe Lucero, Frances Mascarenas; sons, Albert B. Rel and wife Celia and Louie Rel all of whom filled her heart with the love she needed. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind many, but she filled their hearts with wonderful memories. We love you very much and will miss you dearly Mom, grandma₦ A visitation will be held Sunday December 30, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home from 5-7 PM with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be given Monday December 31, 2007 at 10 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. The rite of committal will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Erik Granado, Albert and Aaron Ochoa, Jacob and Anthony Padilla, and Joshua Tanksley.
