Maria Silva

With heavy hearts we announce Maria H. Silva entered eternal rest on May 28th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 17th, 1927, in Mesilla, NM. Maria lived 94 beautiful years as a strong, loving, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a homemaker and a well-known seamstress, who loved to cook, read, complete word searches and made all her children's clothes by hand. She is survived by her four children Chris Garcia (Santiago), Viola Silva (Mike Sandoval), Ruben Silva, and Gilbert Silva, a sister, Elizabeth Holguin Lannert, grandchildren (5), great grandchildren (12), and great-great grandchildren (6). Maria fought and conquered cancer, welcomed everyone into her home, and most importantly helped raise her grandchildren. Maria was preceded in death by her father, Silvino Holguin, Mother, Josefa M. Holguin, her husband Willie Silva, and sister Francisca Holguin. Celebration of life will be held at Getz Funeral Home Friday June 17th at 10:00 AM, burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Join us after, for lunch at the VFW on 2001 N. Mesquite St, Las Cruces. Pallbearers Ray Fuentes, Steven Fuentes, Alex Alvarez, Mike Sandoval, Isaiah and Nathan Macias. Service Information
