Marianne Charolett Sonja Didier Wyman, of Cloudcroft, New Mexico, passed away peacefully after a long illness on September 7, 2019, surrounded by her family at Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was 70 years old. Marianne was born in Pineville, Louisiana. Both of her parents were born and raised in central Louisiana, but she moved often as a child because her father served in the United States Army. She first lived near Cloudcroft as a young girl when her father was stationed at the National Solar Observatory. She later returned to Louisiana and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. Marianne spent much of her adult life in Louisiana and lived with her husband and three children in Mandeville for many years. During that time, Marianne volunteered with the local community theater and taught art and drama in the St. Tammany Parish public schools. Five years ago she was able to realize a longtime dream of returning to the mountains of New Mexico when she retired to Cloudcroft. Marianne was an extremely talented artist. She particularly enjoyed painting, sculpture, crochet, and making stained glass. She loved to travel, and she did so extensively in Europe, Latin America, and the Western United States. Marianne was also a lover of animals and provided a wonderful home for many dogs and cats. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Marianne was fiercely independent, warm, and funny. She was undaunted by any challenge, whether a home improvement project or driving from Louisiana to Mexico with a family of five. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Craig Wyman of Cloudcroft; her daughter, Ave Mince-Didier of Decatur, Georgia; her daughter, Lisa Wyman, of Austin, Texas; her son, Phillip Wyman, also of Cloudcroft; her son-in-law, Sam Sober, of Decatur; and her grandchildren, Lilah Didier-Sober and Ezra Didier-Sober of Decatur. She is also survived by her sister, Toni Doan of Hammond, Louisiana, her brothers Darren Didier and Fabian Didier, both of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Ruth Hathorn Didier, and her father, Homer Woodall Didier. A memorial service will take place in Louisiana later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Humane in memory of Marianne's love of animals, particularly large, poorly behaved dogs.
