Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marie F. Mangas, 71, died Saturday March 31, 2007 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM. Marie was born on December 9, 1935 in Bay Shore, Long Island, NY to Joseph and Florence Anderson and was raised in Bay Shore, Long Island, NY. Marie and her family moved to New Mexico when she was 15 and graduated from Highland High of Albuquerque, NM. Marie dedicated her life to her eight children, sharing her everlasting love, passion and wisdom. Our mother, was an amazing person. She was a loving and wonderful mom, a generous grandmother, a loyal friend and a true inspiration. She enriched the lives of all who were graced by her colorful portrait. She was a lover of the arts: a ballroom dance teacher and an active participant in community theater. An educational volunteer who enjoyed many years coaching readers theater, speech and drama. Marie Mangas is survived by her children, James Joseph Mangas of Los Angeles, CA; Kathy and John Roddy of Kingman, AZ; Brian Mangas of Las Cruces, NM; Marta and Robert Frassanito of Phoenix, AZ; Michelle and J. Green of Phoenix, AZ; Eva Mangas of Dallas, TX; and Rachel Mangas of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, William, Sara, Robert and Kathleen Roddy, Megan and Robert Frassanito, Jackson and Owen Green. Marie is preceded in death by her beloved son Jon Kelly Mangas and selfless brother Father Joseph K. Anderson, O.S.B. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM at Getz Funeral Home Tuesday April 3, 2007 with a prayer vigil to follow at 7:00pm the same evening at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2007 at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 10 am. The rite of committal will immediately follow at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Mangas, John Roddy, Rob Frassanito, J Green, Steve Brooks and Steve Dominquez. PDF Printable Version
