Marie Fuller, 84, passed away on July 16, 2017 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. Marie was born to Paula Sabella Di Gangi and Frank Di Gangi of Brooklyn, New York in 1933, where she grew up with her brother, Frank. Marie graduated with a Registered Nursing degree from Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, where she cared for her patients with compassion and dedication. In 1956, Marie married William E. Hansen. They had two sons, Steven and Paul Hansen. In 1969, Marie and her family moved to Merritt Island, Florida where she often recounted living so close to the Kennedy Space Center that the letters on the side of the rockets were visible from the family's backyard. She was able to watch the rocket launches to the moon. In 1974, Marie became Director of Nursing at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she met her husband of 43 years, Joseph Fuller. Marie then taught future nurses in the nursing department at New Mexico State University. This was one of her great loves. Marie was the owner and head chef of Mama Marie's Italian Cuisine in Mesilla, New Mexico, from 1982-1996, where she prepared meals with the same passion she had for life. Marie enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially to Italy, and also to England. She traveled within the United States to Alaska and Hawaii, but nothing ever compared to her hometown of New York City. Marie is survived by her husband, Joseph Fuller, her brother Frank Di Gangi (wife Carole and daughter Elisa); sons Steven (partner Elizabeth Upham) and Paul Hansen; grandchildren Dillion, Taylor, and Nicole Hansen, Danielle Guerrero (husband Luis), and Violet Horner. Marie's two former daughters-in-law, Terri and Sharon Hansen, remained close to her, as well. Marie's love of her family and friends, smile, sharp wit, and compassion will be greatly missed by all who knew and lover her. Marie's request was to be cremated. A visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services are entrusted to Getz Funeral Home, if you would like to sign the online register book please visit www.getzcares.com.
