It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, sister and friend, Marie Schilling, who left us on June 29, 2023. She lived a remarkable life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories. Her departure has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but we find solace in celebrating the beautiful person she was. Born on September 30, 1956, in Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ. Marie was the fourth child (third sister) in a family of five siblings. She brought light into the lives of everyone she encountered. A graduate of St. Johns Elementary School in Bergenfield NJ and St. Cecilia High School, in Englewood, Marie was a gifted and talented student athlete voted the MVP of her softball team and most outstanding student in the class of 1974. Following graduation Marie worked a variety of jobs in northern NJ rising to an Executive level in the Video Shack Corporation. In 1991 Marie was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease that she and her loving wife Mimi fought for the next 35 years providing an inspiration to all who know them. Despite many challenges, she was a devoted friend and confidant and a pillar of support for those fortunate enough to know her. Marie made lasting connections and nurtured friendships that spanned a lifetime. Their Maywood home was the setting for every holiday and their Thanksgiving dinners were epic! Following Mimi's retirement, they relocated from Maywood NJ to Las Cruces NM where her sister Sara and brother-in-law Mark resided to enjoy the high desert and mild winters. Marie had a unique ability to make people feel seen, valued, and appreciated. Her impact on the lives of those around her was immeasurable, and the memories we shared will never be forgotten. Marie is survived by her partner, and wife of 47 years Marianne (Mimi) Auriemma. Her four siblings, James, Margaret, Sara, and Martin along with their spouses, numerous nieces and nephews and friends, were a constant source of support and joy in her life. We know Marie will find comfort in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through memories shared and a love that will forever endure. "With every sunrise, we are reminded of your radiance, with every laugh, we hear your contagious joy, with every act of kindness, we carry on your legacy. Farewell, dear friend, until we meet again." There is no planned memorial at this time, if one desires, a donation in Marie's name to The Parkinson's Foundation (Parkinson.org) would be appreciated.
