MARLES MAE (THOMPSON) JUTZ Marles was born October 23, 1941 in Story City, Iowa to Lester N. and Marjorie D. (Thompson) Thompson. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on October 31, 2018. Marles was raised with her 4 siblings near Garden City, then Roland, Iowa. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran and confirmed at Salem Lutheran churches. She attended schools in Garden City, Radcliffe, and Roland. In high school she played coronet in concert and pep band, and sang in chorus and glee club; lettering in music. She worked on the school newspaper and was active in FHA. She graduated from Roland High School in 1959. After graduating high school, she attended Iowa State University where she sang in the choir. She graduated from ISU in 1964 with her Bachelor of Science Degree in English and Speech and then moved with her family to Denver, Colorado where she continued her education at the University of Denver. In 1968 she met Robert Jutz who was in Tech School at Lowry AFB in Denver, Colorado. They were married June 14, 1969 in Aurora, Colorado. They moved to Holloman AFB where Bob was stationed and after finishing student teaching at NMSU, she began her teaching career. They moved to Alamogordo in 1976. She continued teaching and created a loving home for her and Bob and his two daughters who visited for several weeks each summer. In 1978 she was blessed to give birth to her only natural child DoriAnne. In 1984 she retired from teaching and spent the rest of her days in Alamogordo being the best wife and mother. Marles spent her childhood growing up on farms and had a love of animals. She especially loved the horse she owned as a teen named Queenie. She was heavily involved with FHA in her youth and became an accomplished seamstress. She loved kids and taught for several years working at Oregon Elementary in Alamogordo and Holloman Elementary on Holloman AFB. She was a Christian and loved the Lord with all of her heart which showed in everything she did. Marles loved her family and enjoyed time spent with them. She will be sorely missed. Marles is survived by her husband of 49 years Bob, Alamogordo, NM, daughter DoriAnne Jutz and grandson Gabriel Wyntjes, Las Cruces, NM, step-daughters; Robin DeLauer and husband Greg, Cyndi Pecyna and husband Doug, Lompoc, CA, siblings; Terry Thompson, Longmont, CO, Steve Thompson and wife Gari, Mill Valley, CA, and John Thompson and wife Phyllis, Parker, CO. She is also survived by 4 step-grandsons, 1 step-granddaughter, 4 nephews, 4 nieces, multiple step-grandchildren, great-nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, sister Linda, sisters-in-law Roberta and Deanna, nephew Timothy, and step-granddaughter Jacquelyn. The family would like to thank the staff at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center, Memorial Medical Center, and Dr. Canon, Kim Miller and their staff for all the care they gave her over the years that allowed us more wonderful years with Marles than we'd thought we'd ever have.
