Martha Taylor Adams

August 10, 1919 — April 9, 2010

Martha (Mart) Taylor Adams died at the age of 90 years old, on April 9, 2010, at La Posada, Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was born to Harvey Hyrum Taylor & Mary Alice Pierce Taylor, in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico, on August 10, 1919. She was in the middle of a family of 13 children, so she was a favorite sister of the older and younger siblings. Her mother died when Martha was 16, so she helped raise her younger siblings. Martha met Bill Adams when they were about 8 years old. They married each other on October 30, 1939 and recently celebrated 70 years of happy marriage. They lived in various parts of Mexico until 1950, when they moved to El Paso. Martha and Bill moved to 630 Monte Vista, Las Cruces in 1956, and they lived there until January 2010, when they moved to Golden Mesa. In her younger years, Martha enjoyed raising a family, cooking the tastiest food, and keeping the household running smoothly. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and taught Primary for 35 years, taught Sunday School, taught Relief Society classes, and was a Cub Scout Leader. She also taught school when she lived in Mexico, and those who she taught still talk about how grateful they are that she made them learn to love reading. Martha was a joy to be around and made many friends over the years. She was a very thoughtful, loving, and generous person. She will be missed. Martha is proceeded in death by her son Marty, grandson Allan, her parents Harvey & Mary, her step-mother Rhoda, her brothers Roy, Mennell, Lynn & Joe, and her sisters Beth, Maudie, Mary Alice, and Ethel. Survivors include her sister Rinda, brothers Daniel, Claudius and Aston, her children Floyde (& Connie), Sid (& Linda), Bob (& Marla), and Bonnie Elder (& Patrick); grandchildren Bill, Lynne, Nancy, Annette, Suzy, Linda, Brian, Marty, Stephanie, Amy and Justin; great-grandchildren Elise, Nolan, Justina, Logan, Joshua, Carol, Carol, Cathy, Jarod, Jason, Jude, Henry, Sora, Audrey, Camille, Mia and Harley. She is also survived by sister-in-law Ada and many nieces, nephews and cousins who love her dearly. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3210 Venus, at 10:00 Thursday, April 15, 2010. Pallbearers will be Floyde Adams, Sid Adams, Bob Adams, Bonnie Elder, Bill Adams, and Brian Adams. A reception will be at 2:30 at Golden Mesa, 151 N. Roadrunner Parkway. The family thanks Hospice at La Posada and Wendy's Help at Home at Golden Mesa for their gentle care. PDF Printable Version
