Martina "Tina" V. Aragon, 75, lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007. She was born July 5, 1931 in Las Cruces to Andres and Juanita Duran Valenzuela. Tina was a retired Ward Secretary from the old Memorial General Hospital here in Las Cruces. She was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, loved to sew and read but her passion was to pull the one-armed bandits in the casinos. She will be deeply missed by all her many family and friends who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons Rudy Aragon and wife Rita of Queen Creek, AZ, Ramon Montanez of Albuquerque, NM, Frank Montanez Jr. of Idaho, Henry Aragon and wife Gail of Roswell, NM and Andrew Aragon and wife Dale Lynn of Chandler, AZ; daughter Gloria Butkivich and husband John of Glendale, AZ; brother Gilbert Valenzuela and wife Chata of Mesilla Park, NM. Also surviving her are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tina was preceded in death by her husband Frank Aragon; son Larry; sisters Maggie Melon, Corina Ordunez and Natalia Via and by her brothers Tony Contreras and Nacho Valenzuela. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. Her funeral mass is at 10 AM on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Sean Garrity officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rudy, Andrew, Henry Jr. and Michael Aragon, Jesse Butkivich Jr. and Isaac Montanez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rudy Marin, Frank Aragon and Jeremiah Montanez PDF Printable Version
