Marvin Potter Squires, 75, of Las Cruces, died peacefully at home Wednesday, July 26, 2006, with his family at his side. He was born September 1, 1930 in Okmulgee Oklahoma to Smythe and Opal Squires. Marvin had a brilliant mind with a gift for invention. He always had a project somewhere in the house, whether it was building an electric car for his daughters to drive to school or a moving map computer for his airplane. In 1968 Marvin was asked to assist in finding a way to make a full-size remote controlled helicopter as a radar target. Always being up to the challenge, he decided to build a helicopter. He trained and received a rotorcraft rating on his pilot
