Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Scott, age 81, passed peacefully from her earthly dwelling to her heavenly home on Thursday March 1, 2018. Libby was born on October 14, 1936 in Houston, TX to William and Isabella Mainland. She grew up in Glendale, California where she eventually met the love of her life, Robert (Scotty) Scott at church. They were married on November 23rd, 1955 in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. Libby is survived by her husband Scotty, her four children Harlan Michael Scott, Terri Lynne Jones (Ron), William Robert Scott (Tina), and Sandra Beth Emanuel (Brent) as well as her sister Lee Jacquez (Don). She is also survived by her ten loving grandchildren: Alanna Norick (Zac), Lucas Scott, Michael Jones (Angelina), David Jones (Amy), Rachael Lund (Brian), Skyler Jensen, Kendra Scott, Dylan Scott, Alex Guerrero (Joseph) and nine great-grandchildren: Vaida and Ellery Norick, Leila, Angelina and baby-to-be Jones, Roxanne, Sabrina, and Madelyn Jones, and Joseph Guerrero II. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Isabella Mainland, her sister Lynne McHargue, and her grandson Mikuel Scott. She was a member of University Presbyterian Church, where her husband served as the pastor for many years. She taught Sunday School and was the Director of Vacation Bible School each summer. She graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Education. She was the Director of Christian Day Nursery from 1974-1982, before moving to Australia with her husband where they became missionaries with Mission to the World. In Australia she taught junior high English and Math and mentored Australian women. Libby and Scotty returned to Las Cruces, NM where they became members and served at Grace Covenant church. Las Cruces was where she was active in her role as grandmother. Libby is known for her wit, sense of humor and her love for her family. Her significance was found in her faith and trust in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When she left us to go home to Jesus, we are all convinced she said, "tick" with a smile, having completed her earthly journey. The family is comforted to know that she was greeted with arms wide open, to the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
