Mary Elizabeth Collins passed away on December 19, 2011 at the age of 88. She was born on January 31, 1923 the daughter of Marvin and Maggie Apple. She was the youngest of nine children. Mary Elizabeth Collins passed away on December 19, 2011 at the age of 88. She was born on January 31, 1923 the daughter of Marvin and Maggie Apple. She was the youngest of nine children. Elizabeth was valedictorian of her high school class and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over fifty years. She married Ditch Collins in 1942 and was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She is survived by her three children, Terry L. Collins, Elizabeth J. Cottingim, and Martha A. Hedgecoke. Elizabeth lived with her family in Ruidoso where she and Dutch ran the Thunderbird Curio Shop. In 1982 they moved to Mesa, AZ. They enjoyed playing golf and traveling to places like Canada and Mexico. Elizabeth loved to cook, read and play cards and dominoes with her friends. She was married to Dutch for 65 years, and she will be buried next to him and their two best friends, Coke and Mary Hedgecoke, in Ruidoso. A visitation will be held on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home. The memorial service will be December 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Ruidoso Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne Joyce of Ruidoso Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
