Mary Helen Aven of Las Cruces passed away November 9, 2009. Mary Helen was born May 19, 1930 in Wooten, NM to Jim and Dorothy Sutten. She was raised in High Rolls, NM. Mary Helen enjoyed bowling, playing cards with family and friends, she loved animals and the outdoors. Mary Helen was especially known and loved for her quick wit. She was always the life of the party. She will be dearly missed by all. Mary Helen is survived by her sister Norma Jean Martin of Wilcox, AZ, her son James Lee Aven "Rowdy" and wife Debbie of Odessa, TX. Son-in-law Frank Lang of Las Cruces, four grandchildren Robert Lang and wife Tanya, Sheila Ortega and husband Jerry all of Las Cruces, Melissa Key and Corey Aven of San Antonio, TX, twelve great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband Lee "Elmo" Aven and her daughter Dorothy "Dot" Lang. A memorial service will be held Thursday November 12, 2009 at Getz Funeral home at 2:00 P.M.
