Helen Schafer (Nee Mendez), age 94 passed away quietly on January 10, 2012 at the Heritage Assisted Living in Las Cruces. Born in Trinidad, Colorado, she resided for many years in Denver before moving to Las Cruces to be with family. Born in Trinidad, Colorado, she resided for many years in Denver before moving to Las Cruces to be with family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Earl Schafer, Mother and Father, Julia and Luis, Brothers Louis and Alfred, and Sister Carmen. She leaves her loving nephew, Alfred and niece, Benadette, and many other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be at 6 PM on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012 at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada Chapel with Reverend Father Don Adamski officiating. PDF Printable Version
