A profound and inconsolable loss prevails as we morn Mary Lee Henderson, who is late of this world due to complications from an unexpected illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Leon "Hap" Cummings and Vera Hadden Cummings. Survived by her older sister Susan Carol Turner and niece Kelly Dianne Wright, Mary Lee was born in North Charleston, SC in 1953, and would go on to a great many things including raising her four children, who survive her thus: Michael Joshua Little and his wife Tammy Kaye Little with their two children, William Joshua Little and Kaylee Ann Little of Cocoa, FL. Timothy Jason Little and his partner Arthur Edward Gala of Douglasville, GA. Susan Ashley Henderson, and Laura Emmalee Henderson and her husband Lucas Edmond Herndon with their daughter Niomi Noel Herndon, all of Las Cruces, NM. In addition to her immediate family, Mary Lee is survived by ex- husbands William Michael Little and Torg Burke Henderson as well as a long list of in-laws and out laws with whom Momma Hen, as she was affectionately known, kept in touch with over the years and despite any awkward circumstances was always on good terms with. Mary Lee will also be missed by her "cuddly pets" that she cared for diligently for many years. Graduating from New Mexico State University in 1995, Mary Lee worked as an RN at the University Terrace Good Samaritan for the better part of the last fifteen years. She took on her role as Momma Hen here too and was a strong and passionate caregiver to countless patients and their families. When not caring for her ward of patients, Momma Hen was sure to be babysitting her granddaughter, making food with her daughters, or having long conversations with her sons; forever putting others first was her great strength. We will all miss you very much and the world is a dimmer place without you here. A memorial service celebrating Mary Lee's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday July 23, 2010 at University Terrace Good Samaritan Auditorium with Rev. Carrol Blevins officiating. In Lieu of flowers Mary Lee's family asks that donations be made in her name to University Terrace Good Samaritan Village, 1025 Terrace Dr., Las Cruces, NM 88011. PDF Printable Version
