Mary Ruth Ortiz, 80, of Las Cruces, NM entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at La Posada, Mesilla Valley Hospice. Mary was born February 27, 1929 in Cotulla, Texas to Rafael and Elisa Perez. She was a member of the Catholic Church and a homemaker. Mary Ruth Ortiz, 80, of Las Cruces, NM entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at La Posada, Mesilla Valley Hospice. Mary was born February 27, 1929 in Cotulla, Texas to Rafael and Elisa Perez. She was a member of the Catholic Church and a homemaker. Survivors, include her husband of 52 years, Alfonso Ortiz; three sons, Tony Ortiz of Hemet, CA; Carlos Ortiz of Banning, CA. and Julian Ralph Perez of Los Angeles, CA. Four daughters, Mary Lupe Valdez of Las Cruces, NM; Anita Necochea of San Diego, CA; Margaret Rodriguez of Denver, CO and Lydia Coronado of Rubidoux, CA. Also surviving her is one brother Rudy Castellanos, and four sisters, Isabel Lopez of Chicago, ILL, Rachael Grijalva, Amelia Montano, and Sandra Aguilar all of Tulare, CA; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by a son Danny Ortiz, three sisters, Maria Villa, Alda Torres and Rosa Perez, and two brothers, Julian S. Perez and Pinky Martinez. Visitation for Mary will be from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 am on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish in Tortugas. Serving, as pallbearers will be Lalo Martinez, Don Woolstenhulme, Donnie Woolstenhulme, Ralph Perez, Florencio Vigil and Jessie Valdez. At Mary's request cremation will follow. PDF Printable Version
