Mary Zertuche Hernandez, 70, of Las Cruces died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 19, 1938 in Rincon, NM to Gabino and Paula Zertuche. A lifelong resident of the Las Cruces area, Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Mary was extremely proud of her sons. Mary Zertuche Hernandez, 70, of Las Cruces died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 19, 1938 in Rincon, NM to Gabino and Paula Zertuche. A lifelong resident of the Las Cruces area, Mary was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Mary was extremely proud of her sons. Mary enjoyed gardening and on occasion visited area casinos but her biggest joy in life was spending time with her much cherished grandchildren. Mary's home was always open to anyone who needed a meal or a helping hand. Mary is survived by her two sons, Rudy Hernandez (Eileen) of Las Cruces and Joseph Hernandez (Jeremy) of Dallas, TX. Daughter-in-law, Carrie Hernandez of Las Cruces. Two grandchildren, Bridgette Peiper (Joshua) of Albuquerque, NM and Russell Hernandez of Albuquerque, NM. One beautiful great-granddaughter Farrah Noelani Peiper. She is also survived by three brothers, Horacio Zertuche (Anita); Gabino Zertuche (Cathy); and David Zertuche (Mary) all of Las Cruces, NM. Three sisters, Delfina Nevarez (Juan) of El Paso, TX; Martha Herrera and Josie Alvarez both of Las Cruces, NM and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose M. Hernandez, a son, Richard Hernandez and grandson, Jeremy J. Hernandez. The Prayer Vigil will be at 7 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at St Genevieve's Catholic Church. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 am on Monday, June 15, 2009 also at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Mitch Dowalgo. Serving, as pallbearers will be members of Mary's family. PDF Printable Version
