Maryellen Connor passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on October 18, 2021. She was born to Andrew Thomas Dwyer and Murley Dwyer on Jan 26, 1930 in Finch, West Virginia. In 1966 she married Joseph Connor. She loved being from West Virginia and had lots of great friends and family there. She relished getting the newspapers from her hometown and reading about what was going on. Maryellen worked for Union Carbide in West Virginia for over 19 years before coming to NM. In 1977 Maryellen and Joe moved from West Virginia to New Mexico. Once here she worked for LCPS as a lunch lady, got her real estate license, and finally worked for NMSU Cooperative Extension Services for the State 4-H. She was very organized and always had everything planned out. She retired from NMSU but continued to do volunteer work for the State 4-H. She was always a big supporter of NMSU and was a member of the Pioneer Club. After she "retired" she worked part time for Edward Jones. To say she was always busy would be an understatement. She was involved with many organization, including the Order of the Eastern Star Las Cruces #20 where she was a 50 year member, Business and Professional Women, Extension Wives at NMSU, and the Elizabeth Circle at St Pauls Methodist Church. She never knew a stranger and always wanted to know about them. She is survived by cousin Steve Essof, and Cousin Susan Essof along with many friends. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday October 26, 2021 at 10 am at St Paul's Methodist Church. Donations can be made to the NMSU Foundation Inc for the Maryellen Connor Endowed Scholarship.
