Melva True Grindell, age 90, passed away quietly at her home on March 9, 2016. True was born August 3rd, 1925, in Enid, OK. She was the youngest of 4 children, spending her early years in Oklahoma before the family moved to Oregon. True grew up in Coos Bay and Eugene, OR, where she met her future husband, William Grindell. After high school they attended the University of Oregon in Eugene, and married in the summer of 1946. They subsequently moved to northern California where they resided until 1955, relocated to Roswell, NM, and then settled in her beloved Las Cruces. During her 56 plus years in Las Cruces, True raised her 4 children, and worked alongside her husband in a number of business ventures in Las Cruces, Truth or Consequences, Albuquerque, and Alamogordo. Her personal interests included golf, bridge, bowling, gardening, and needlework. She greatly enjoyed her pets, entertaining at the family home, creating an elaborate winter village at Christmas, and spending free time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. True is survived by her children, Marie Hurley (Dennis) of Harrisburg, OR, Laura Romero of Las Cruces, NM, Carol Lopez (Ray) of Las Cruces, NM, William R. Grindell (Pam) of Livermore, CA, 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Charles Tramp, her mother, Marie Redman Tramp, her brothers, Robert L. and Virgil C. Tramp, Jr., her sister, Lois O'Connor, and her husband...
