Mercedes Marmolejo, 66, of La Mesa, NM died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. She was born Sept. 24, 1939 in Ciudad Carmargo Chihuahua Mexico to Ursulo Chavez and Bernadina Jacques. Mercedes Marmolejo, 66, of La Mesa, NM died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. She was born Sept. 24, 1939 in Ciudad Carmargo Chihuahua Mexico to Ursulo Chavez and Bernadina Jacques. Mercedes was a friend to all and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her two sons Luis Marmolejo of La Mesa, NM and Cesar Atayde and his wife Michelle of Montague, TX; daughters Hilda Olivas and husband Francisco of Las Cruces, Sylvia Marmolejo of Silver City, NM and Gloria Marmolejo of Hatch, NM; brother Demetrio Chavez and wife Genoveva of El Paso, TX; sisters Margarita Ramirez and husband Guerrero of Chihuahua, Mexico and Rosalia Reyes and husband Efrain of El Paso, TX. Mercedes is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her two husbands Pedro Marmolejo and Leopoldo Ortega and by her two sons Julio and Pedro Jr. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass is at 9:00 AM Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005 at San Jose Catholic Church in La Mesa, NM with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers are Isaac Olivas, Pedro Luis Marmolejo, Moses Pelkey, Ruben Chavez, Arturo Chavez and Matthew Pastran.
