It is with great sorrow that the family of Mike Morneau announce his passing on June 21, 2022. He was 72 years old. Mike was born on April 2, 1950, in Salem Massachusetts to Lucien Morneau and Mary Louise Powers Morneau. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in 1968, Mike will later pursue a career in the military, enlisting in the US Army in 1971. He bravely served his count...
It is with great sorrow that the family of Mike Morneau announce his passing on June 21, 2022. He was 72 years old. Mike was born on April 2, 1950, in Salem Massachusetts to Lucien Morneau and Mary Louise Powers Morneau. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in 1968, Mike will later pursue a career in the military, enlisting in the US Army in 1971. He bravely served his country during Operation Desert Storm. One of his numerous medals include the Kuwait Liberation Medal. Retiring with 28 years of service, Mike achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He began a second career at the Mesilla Park Post Office, where he worked a s a Postal Clerk for 23 years. Through his sarcastic wit and easy-going nature, everyone that met Mike not only was a customer, but became a friend. Mike was an avid sports fan, having extensive knowledge of baseball while watching his beloved Red Sox and Sundays were reserved for the New England Patriots. Mike also enjoyed reading, yard work, vacationing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Lupe Morneau, a daughter Christy Morneau (Daniel Plasenia), son Eric Morneau, sibling Peter Morneau and beloved cousin Nancy Sirois. He is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish his memory. The family asks you to please remember Mike through stories, the stories that connect us and unite us, Mike loved telling a good story. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Las Cruces NM 88001.
