Miguel (Mike) Angel Grijalva, 79, of Las Cruces died Wednesday March 16, 2005. He was born on April 23, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Miguel and Blanca Senovia Grijalva. Mike graduated from James A. Garfield High School in Los Angeles, California. He then joined the Navy and served four years on the USS Greenwich Bay during World War II. In 1950 he graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from NMSU. After graduation, he began work at Las Cruces Tortilla Factory in Mesilla, N.M. as a salesman with his father-in-law Martin Oliver. He was promoted to partner and eventually served as president and owner and changed the firm name to its current name Las Cruces Foods Inc. Mike opened a similar business in Albuquerque and named it Albuquerque Foods Inc. He was also the founder of La Cocina in Mesilla Park and owned and maintained the original site of the Tortilla Factory in Old Mesilla and leased it to small businesses. Mike has always been very active in the community. His civic activities include serving on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries, a former Boy Scout leader and member of the Selective Service Committee. Mike has provided employment opportunities to high school students, inexperienced head-of-household women, and developmentally delayed workers. In addition, Mike found time to hold several offices in the Rotary Club and Serra Club of Las Cruces. For many years Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus and held numerous local and state offices. He was a charter member of Los Pastores and Voz Vaqueros
