Mildred H. Cahall, born February 27, 1925 in Pinecastle, Florida to parents Ruth Batten Harris and Ralph Harris, passed away at Good Samaritan Society Las Cruces Village (GSSLCV) on June 14, 2010. "Millie" was a fourth generation Floridian. During WW II, Millie's brother was seriously wounded in the South Pacific, Millie responded by serving honorably in the Navy (WAVES). Millie met Robert R. Cahall "Bobby" while both were still in the Navy. They married April 6, 1946 in Orlando, Florida. Millie supported her family while Bobby finished college and the GE management training program. The family traveled to many states but called Schenectady, NY their home. When her children entered college Millie completed her education and obtained her Master's Degree from College of St. Rose/Albany, NY. Millie spent many years teaching reading to students with learning disabilities and special needs. She believed if a child could read, they always had a chance for success in life. Millie and Bobby enjoyed retirement in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. In 2004 they moved to GSSLCV where they appreciate their friends and the support received from the staff. All who knew Millie respected her intelligence and wit. She always had a bright smile for everyone. Millie is preceded in death by brother, John Calvin Harris. She is survived by husband Bobby of 64 years, sister Dorothy Zepponi, son Robin Cahall/spouse Linda Dunikoski, son Randy Cahall/spouse Karen Paulson, grandson David Paulson-Cahall, niece Linda Korevec/spouse Scott Korevec, nephew Marco Zepponi, nephew John Harris and niece Mary Bee Harris. There will be a memorial for Millie at the Good Samaritan Society Las Cruces Village Auditorium on July 12, 2010 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Good Samaritan Society Las Cruces Village and designate for the Scholarship Fund. 3025 Terrace Dr. Las Cruces, NM 88011.
