Mildred "Faye" Gibson, 91, entered eternal life on June 15, 2016 at her home with her family around her. Faye was the second of nine children born to Steele and Adele Thames in Wichita Falls, Texas on November 1, 1924. Faye grew up happily with her family on the farm in Wichita Falls, Dickens, Alvord, and Decatur, Texas. She graduated from Alvord High School in 1941. Faye graduated in 1955 with a degree in sociology. In 1957, Faye began working with the State Department and was sent to Tunis, Tunisia in September. At the embassy, a handsome red-haired U.S. Marine opened the door for her. George "Red" Gibson, from Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts became the love of her life.
