Miriam Catherine Lilly, 84, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. She was born on May 1, 1928 in Sullivan, West Virginia to James and Myrtle Ward. Miriam Catherine Lilly, 84, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. She was born on May 1, 1928 in Sullivan, West Virginia to James and Myrtle Ward. She received her highest level of education, a Masters Degree in Education, from NMSU. Miriam taught for over 40 years in various public and private schools which included Holy Cross Private schools, Hatch Public schools, and Orange County public schools. Even after Miriam's retirement from formal teaching she continued to educate individuals by teaching them the art of stain glass, one of her favorite hobbies. Miriam had a very compassionate and sympathetic demeanor which was evident in her love of caring for people who were ill. She was always willing to lend a hand or offer her aid to anyone in need. Miriam had a deep love for playing a wide variety of games and was an avid fan of the NMSU basketball games. She also thoroughly enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robin Phillip Lilly, and daughter, Cathy Lilly Conners. She is survived by her two sons, Terry W. Lilly and spouse, Laura Lilly; Robin E. Lilly and spouse, Margaret A. Lilly; nine grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will take place from 6pm to 7pm on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Getz funeral home. Graveside services will be at Masonic cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 1pm.
