Obituary for Nancy Rebel Mackey Nancy Jean Mackey, 88, of Las Cruces passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2018, at Casa Bella. Obituary for Nancy Rebel Mackey Nancy Jean Mackey, 88, of Las Cruces passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2018, at Casa Bella. Born Nov. 15, 1929 in Fairview Park, Ohio to Paul Vernon Rebel and Lorna Beatrice Petrie. She discovered a love for race cars and met Edward Frank Mackey, who she married on October 6, 1964 in Los Angeles. They adopted their only Child, Richard in November 1966, fulfilling her dream of motherhood. They lived on both coasts, in Camarillo, California then Baltimore where she was an active "band mom" and volunteer at the Baltimore Zoo, where she stated the highlight of her time was snuggling with the tiger cubs. They later settled in Las Cruces where Nancy was involved with the British Car Club, her Doll Club and her Church. She loved helping with the Sunday School classes and opened a "doll hospital". She was known for her creative and personalized dolls, especially her Raggedy Andy ones. When she became a grandmother, she traveled to Gilbert frequently for performances and holidays. She added joy wherever she went. Nancy enjoyed life and was adventurous, kind, witty, and loving soul. She was predeceased in death by her husband Ed (2007) and son Richard (2011). Nancy is survived by daughter-in-law Heather Horstman Mackey of Gilbert, Ariz. and grandchildren Anna and Paul.
