Neil A. Stueven, 81, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2012. Born August 1, 1931 in Howard Lake, MN , to Carl and Cora Stueven. A devoted husband and father, he loved gardening, golfing, hunting and fishing. After the Korean War, Neil graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota in 1960 and a Master's Degree from South Dakota State University in 1968. In 1969, he moved his family to Las Cruces to work for the Agriculture Extension service at New Mexico State University. He was the long time radio voice of the extension service featuring farming and ranching news interviews and crop reports for much of the Southwest including Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Upon his retirement in 1990, he was finally able to enjoy RVing throughout most of North America with his beloved wife, Marge. From the Yucatan Peninsula to Alaska to Nova Scotia, they enjoyed all the beauty nature has to offer. Neil was preceded in death by his step son Jere Thorne and his sister Irma Wiley. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, his step-daughter Jean of Minneapolis, MN; his daughter Kathy of Rio Ranch, NM; his sons David of Albuquerque, NM, Paul of Westminster, CO, and Mark of Dublan, Ireland; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at New Mexico State University Golf Course. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
