Neil Uptegrove, 82 years old of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at his home. He was born February 25, 1924 in Orange, New Jersey to Deane and Margaret Uptegrove. Neil had been a Las Cruces area resident for about the last 15 years coming from New Jersey. He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Neil Uptegrove, 82 years old of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at his home. He was born February 25, 1924 in Orange, New Jersey to Deane and Margaret Uptegrove. Neil had been a Las Cruces area resident for about the last 15 years coming from New Jersey. He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He worked at Alina Lodge Rehab Facility in Blairstown NJ and Hackettstown Hospital's Substance Abuse Program. He was a member of the Science of Mind Center in Las Cruces and was a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous as an Alcoholism Counselor. Neil had also volunteered his time with Serenity House and Southwest Counseling Center in Las Cruces. Neil is survived by his wife Emily; two daughters, Heidi Courtney of Estes Park, CO and Liese Uptegrove-Ade of Carmel, NY. Four sons, Dirck Uptegrove of Mendham, NJ; Eric Uptegrove of Oahu, HI; Pieter Uptegrove of Newton, NJ; and Leif Uptegrove of Jefferson, MA. Through the seesaw like vicissitudes of life Neil flexed the musculature of consciousness, fought worthily for knowing, some smattering of wisdom, and rose towards incomprehensible, unconditional love. At Neil's request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 8, 2006 at Mastery in Life Center of Religious Science, 575 N.
