Nell Kerr Underwood 93, a resident of Las Cruces NM since 1989, passed from this earth to join her maker on August 20, 2008. Born November 21, 1915 in Davilla, Texas to Robert Kerr and Ida White Kerr. The youngest of 8 children, growing up she enjoyed all the pampering of being the "Baby". Nell Kerr Underwood 93, a resident of Las Cruces NM since 1989, passed from this earth to join her maker on August 20, 2008. Born November 21, 1915 in Davilla, Texas to Robert Kerr and Ida White Kerr. The youngest of 8 children, growing up she enjoyed all the pampering of being the "Baby". Shortly after high school graduation at Bartlett, she married Frank Underwood on Christmas Eve 1935. Family get tog ether's were always fun for her and she truly enjoyed gardening and canning. Later in life, spending time with her grandchildren when they visited turned into visits from great-grand children and then her great-great-grand children. These visits became the delight of her life, along with birthday meals at Cracker Barrel. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and her husband, but survived by her brother Ned Kerr, daughter Laura Beal Porter, 3 grandsons Robert, Scott and Carl Pirtle, 5 great-grand children and 3 great-great-grand children. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett, TX, with Pastor Richard Penna officiating. Burial will follow at the Valverde Cemetery near her birthplace where she will be laid to rest along side her husband. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice 299 E. Montana Las Cruces, NM 88005 in her memory. PDF Printable Version
